Get Ready for Your Fall Pool Closing

Are you ready to get started? Follow these steps and you’ll have your pool ready for winter in no time!

  1. Blow The Deck
First and foremost, you should blow the deck. This will keep leaves that have fallen onto the deck from falling into the pool. It will also reduce algae and bacteria growth when you open the pool in the future.
  2. Net The Top
After blowing the deck, you should net the top. This removes leaves and other debris that have fallen to the pool cover, giving your pool a crystal clear look all around.
  3. Brush The Pool
Brushing the pool will remove substances that weren't cleaned during the deck blowing and top netting. This ensures your pool is as clean as possible when it's opened again next year.
  4. Vacuum The Pool
Vacuuming the pool is the next step for preparing your pool's water for the winter. This removes dirt, debris, and algae so that your winterizing chemicals work efficiently until you open the pool back up in the spring.
  5. Balance The Chemicals
The next step when closing your pool is to balance the chemicals. A pool professional will be able to make sure you have the right amount of chemicals for protecting your pool from the fall and winter.

  6. Lower The Water Level
Lowering the water is an important step when closing your pool. The proper water level will depend on the type of pool cover you use. Using a pool professional ensures your water is lowered at the right amount
  7. Blow All The Lines
The next pool closing step is to blow your lines out with air. This is highly important, as any water in your equipment or pipes could freeze and cause damage.
  8. Remove Pool Equipment
After your water has been lowered and your lines blown, you can remove pool equipment. Items like diving boards, ladders, slides, and more should be safely taken down and placed in storage for the spring.
  9. Fill Water Bags / Raise Anchors
The next step is to fill the water bags. These hold your pool cover in place, preventing dirt and debris from entering the pool and causing algae or bacteria growth. After you've done that, you can raise the anchors on your pool's safety covers. These anchors will keep your cover tight and safe during the cold months.
  10. Install The Cover
The final step of closing your pool is installing the pool cover. This keeps leaves and other debris from falling inside the pool while it is closed for the season. Once your cover is installed, your pool closing is complete!
